LTTS Goes Live and Launches New Online Learning System!
January 25, 2002

On January 25th, the Learning to Teach with Technology Studio officially launched its online learning system! The announcement was made at the Indiana Computer Educators Conference in Indianapolis, IN, where LTTS was premiered as an innovative project for K-12 teachers seeking to learn how to develop technology-based projects to support student inquiry.

Although LTTS has technically been online since July 2001, the new version includes several new module titles and system upgrades. "It's exciting to finally launch the system," said Thomas Duffy, LTTS Project Director. "We are now ready to begin working with teachers, schools, districts, and colleges of education across the nation."

The biggest addition to LTTS is a new enrollment system where teachers can sign up for modules online and pay with either check or credit card. However, anyone can take the first LTTS module for FREE! Currently, there are 20 module titles in LTTS, and 25 more are under development. There is a broad range of module topics that address the needs of the teacher just starting to use technology or the teacher with more experience. A list of modules is located at http://ltts.org under the section titled Take a Module. Facilitators are on hand to provide feedback and assessment on each module.

The new LTTS system features a personalized learning space called MyDesk. This is where learners access their modules in progress as well as tools to support their learning and interaction. The tools now available include discussion forums and an internal messenger system. A personal profiler enables you to share information about yourself with other LTTS members as you wish.

LTTS is also offering a variety of new ways to work with schools and school districts, including site-based subscriptions and professional development programs. LTTS will also work with colleges and universities through site-based subscriptions or consortium memberships.

Development of the LTTS is funded, in part, by a five-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education's FIPSE Learning Anytime Anywhere Program.
